SSAI Underrepresented Student Scholarship
My name is Kassie Marble and I am a senior physics major at Tarleton State University. I fell in love with physics back when I was a senior in high school and I have dedicated my life to being the best person/physicist I can be ever since. I was voted to be the Vice president of Tarleton’s local SPS chapter during both my freshman and sophomore years, and last year I was the president. As president of Tarleton’s SPS chapter, I have increased the amount of outreach activities with local K-12 schools that our chapter does. I believe that there is nothing more profound, than being able to see the look on a child's face and realize that you have impacted their life for the better. I have participated in a variety of research opportunities and I have presented my research at a variety of conferences (Division of Nuclear Physics 2016 in Vancouver, Canada, Tarleton State University Undergraduate Research Symposium, CWIP 2017 at Rice University, and the Spring 2017 Joint Meeting of the Texas Sections of AAPT and APS in San Antonio). Currently, I am working for Dr. Yankolev as an undergraduate researcher in biophotonics at Texas A&M University Biomedical Engineering department.
