SPS Leadership Scholarship
Hello! My name is Joe Popp and I am a current undergraduate physics major at Saint Joseph's University. I minor in mathematics and computer science, and I hope to move on to graduate school after Saint Joe's to receive my doctorate degree in either particle or astrophysics. My research up to this point has been soft matter physics on the microrheology of dilute colloidal suspensions. Coming up on my senior year however, I wanted to get involved in research that is closer to my interests, so during the summer before my final year, I will be taking part in computational physics on gravitational waves at the University of Rome La Sapienza. During my time as president of my SPS chapter at Saint Joseph's University, I worked hard to create a successful merger between our chapter and the University of the Sciences' SPS chapter as our universities merged in the middle of my term. Me and my co-president Kayla Dickert were able to successful combine all of our traditions, projects, activities, and members into one cohesive chapter. I hope to continue to do the physics that I love after graduate school as a researcher in the field of astroparticle physics.
