SPS Leadership Scholarship
I have known that I want to be a physicist for most of my life. I was inspired by a fifth-grade science project on Einstein during which I first read about special relativity. I realize now that the knowledge I learned from that project was only the tip of the iceberg, but it was enough to inspire me for a lifetime. Now, I am a senior at Berry College and I am majoring in Physics with a double minor in Music and Mathematics. I've been a member of SPS since my sophomore year of college when we first implemented the Berry College chapter. Through SPS, I have served as Treasurer and President, and, I was able to become one of three inductees of Sigma Pi Sigma. In the physics department, I am a student researcher and my research partner and I currently have a paper in the process of being published. I also have worked as a tutor and a Teaching Assistant for the introductory physics and astronomy courses. Outside of physics, I play the flute in multiple music ensembles and I am a co-leader for the Berry College Elementary and Middle School Girl Scout Troop. In the future, I hope to continue my physics education by pursuing my doctorate at graduate school. Teaching math and science to all age levels has always been a passion of mine, and I want to continue by teaching at the collegiate level once I have obtained my doctorate.
