Katherine Ameku

Biography

I am a senior at Coe College, majoring in physics and mathematics with a minor in computer science. Currently, I am a visiting researcher at the University of Pennsylvania as a member of the LRSM REU cohort. At UPenn, I am conducting molecular dynamics simulations of glassy-polymer separation membranes that separate gas-gas solutions. At Coe, I do glass science research with Dr. Steve Feller. I also do numismatics research under Dr. Steve Feller and Dr. Ray Feller. I am also very active in my SPS chapter, and the president of Women in the Lindsay Lounge, Coe’s Women in Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, and Economics club. Outside of academics, I am a committeewoman for the Jackson County (Missouri) Democratic Committee, representing Blue Sub-District 5. I also serve on the Democratic Missouri State Senate Committee as the Committeewoman for Missouri’s 11th Senatorial District. I am very proud to have been voted in to represent my community!
