Collin Community College
2014
Peggy Dixon Two-Year Scholarship
I am currently completing my second year at Collin Community College in Plano, Texas, where I focused my studies on Astronomy, Physics, and Math. My most inspiring experience thus far has been a collaborative course in Astrobiology which culminated in my presenting research and participating in a panel discussion on SETI at the Interdisciplinary Undergraduate Research Conference in 2013. I am looking forward to transferring to Texas A&M University in the fall and will be majoring in Physics, and hope to take full advantage of their Astronomy courses. The SPS program at A&M is currently in flux, but I view that as an opportunity to join at a time when I can have a big impact on the direction of the program. I plan to continue my studies by earning a doctorate in Astrophysics. Professionally, I plan to become a professor, conducting research and teaching students in a university setting. I am looking forward to the opportunity to study under some of the greatest minds in physics and astronomy. In the future, I hope to contribute to solving the many mysteries of the universe; and at the same time, as a teacher, I hope to inspire my own students to do the same.
