I spent Saturday running errands. Sunday was a little more exciting. I went to a bouldering gym with a few of the SPS interns and met an intern working in an international justice department. We all ended up going out to sushi together, meeting up with more SPS interns for an all-you-can-eat sushi dinner. I ended up joining the gym on my next visit. Since then I have been to the climbing gym every couple days. We’ve started organizing bouldering trips with SPS and NASA interns whenever we can.
At NASA, I’ve finished the simulation for different dielectric layers, varying width and dielectric constant, using the transformation matrix method. I recreated published simulations based on a previous model. I now have a more complex simulator. At the end of the week I was starting to determine the absorption bands of the porous Teflon. I need to construct a function of the material’s permittivity as a function of frequency. I’m definitely on track to complete my project by the end of summer.
