SPS Outstanding Chapter Advisor
Randolph College
Peter Sheldon is Professor of Physics at Randolph College and Chair of the Department. I started the SPS and Sigma Pi Sigma Chapters here and have been their advisor ever since. The SPS group at Randolph is one of the more active clubs on campus, and under my direction, runs the College’s (and region’s only) annual Science Festival that has over 2000 participants each year. I am also the Director of the College’s Center for Student Research, and I run the SUPER Program (Step Up to Physical Science and Engineering at Randolph), which is a program partially funded by the NSF and is meant to recruit, retain, and train the nation’s future scientists. In addition, I am the Chief Reader of the AP Physics Exam: part of the development committees, and in charge of grading the AP Physics exams for the College Board.
