David Peak

David Peak received his B.S. in Physics at the State University College at New Paltz and his Ph.D. in Physics from the State University of New York at Albany. Dr. Peak currently works as a Professor of Physics at Utah State University and serves as the SPS Chapter Advisor for the university. He has been very active throughout his time in the physics field, including contributing to multiple publications, books, conferences, and teaching services. He has earned many awards, including the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching in 2009 and Teacher of the Year from the College of Science at USU in 2003.

Dr. Peak is known by his students for his enthusiasm and willingness to encourage those around him to become involved and successful in the field of physics. Whether he is working one-on-one with students who need support or participating in community outreach activities, Dr. Peak displays his passion and knowledge for physics in many ways.  His role in K-12 outreach programs and willingness to give individual attention to those who asked did not go unnoticed by those around him. His “animated lectures” keep his students engaged and supports their passion for pursuing careers in physics. Dr. Peak’s efforts to make every SPS moment “memorable” for those involved is why he is valued as an SPS advisor. At Utah State University, his students know they can always find Dr. Peak in the hallways encouraging students to join SPS, enter a research lab, or apply for a scholarship.
