Dr. Richard Prince is an Assistant Professor at East Tennessee State University where his research focuses on the application of optics and photonics to the study and manipulation of biological systems and on developing new teaching techniques to improve understanding of physical concepts in lower-division courses. He has a long history with SPS, first becoming an officer of the UTK chapter in 2010 before serving on the National Council, Executive Committee, and 2016 Congress planning committee. He received his PhD from the University of California, Irvine in 2021 and was highly active in science policy and advocacy for science at the local and national levels during that time. SPS provided the launchpad of his career, and he looks forward to serving this organization and giving back to the students that it serves.
